Shootout at the end of our block!
by ohiocowboy inwe have been up all night with the commotion going on here!
we let the dog out to potty at about 3:10 am, and all of a sudden we heard about 20 loud gunshot blasts.
we got chelsea back inside quickly, and within minutes the police helicopter was above our house, and sirens everywhere.

Ohio Cowboy, I think last night was the most frightened I've ever been in the OC. I was in a dead sleep when the shots sounded and it felt like it just went on forever. I really thought it was closer to my house than that though - how scary for you to have the aftermath going on so close. Once the police helicopter started hovering, I realized it was farther away and went back to sleep. After my heart stopped pounding out of my chest, that is.
Do you really get gunfire that often? I only hear maybe a single shot two or three times a year, not counting July 4 and New Year's Eve.
I'm glad you and yours are okay. I lost your phone number after the November Apostafest and have been meaning to PM you and ask for it again.

"When Eyes of Blind Ones See Again"

Very cool. I think I'll research Pfizer stock today.
"For some weird reason, after I posted to this thread I burst out in tears. Thinking about that song has really upset me. After all this time, I cannot believe that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society still has a hold on me, but obviously they do."
I know what you mean. There's something about the music in particular that makes me feel sick inside when I think of it. A lot of those songs really meant something to me once.

LIfe is fraught
by John Doe inwith happiness and fulfillment.
every day i step out into the world, bombarded with the realization that everything is as it should be--the grass is green, the sky is blue, the sea is green, and the damp breeze tickles my neck and wakens my senses.
everywhere you look, it's jovial meaningfulness and sunlit backdrops.

I think somebody had a particularly fulfilling self-love session last night.

If you visit, check out Culebra and Vieques, two islands off the coast. You can take a ferry from Fajardo or a puddle jumper from San Juan.

Want to Introduce myself....Hi everyone.
by ilovelamp120 inhi all, i've been reading here for awhile and made a few posts before realizing i should probably introduce myself.
it's so refreshing to read ppl's thoughts on these topics, which run deeply personal, and i've never been able to express myself freely, so thanks for such a great forum.. i was born and raised a dub, by my "spiritually single" mother (dad was an unbeliever..still is) me and my 3 other siblings all fell away before getting baptised, other than my older sis, who was df'd at 16. unfortunatley in my early 20's a sister "took an interest in me and we had a bible study for 2 years before getting baptized at 24.
(what a regret) since then i floundered, flopped, got df'd a year later for dum, dum, dum..."fornication and then reinstated 9 months later.

Saw Danish Worlds Apart movie, have questions
by jws ini just watched the danish film "worlds apart" last night.
it's the story of a jw girl who falls in love with a "worldly" boy and all of the problems in her life.
and if anybody wants to see it, it's on the independent film channel on-demand.

"But there was so much detail, it would seem they had an ex-JW as a consultant."
The woman whose story they were telling was the consultant. She's actually in the film at the very end - the one who talks to the main character on the train.

Cool. I've noticed something else in the past two months as well. I'm getting emails every week from different for-profit businesses who are now doing community/world outreach and encouraging their clientele to get involved as well.
It's ranged from Blue Mesa restaurant inviting people to come to a meeting they're hosting for a group that's working on building schools in Nepal to a local group who are working to make our neighborhoods/parks cleaner and lots of different events in between.

I wonder if the cartoonist would've drawn this if it were a different animal involved in the attack, say a pet tiger.

Richie Rich and the Archies bring back some memories. My daughter just got me into them again. I'm reading the Walking Dead series and just finished "Y, the Last Man," which was awesome. I highly recommend that series - unforgettable.
